Bernard Buffet was a prolific French Expressionist painter known for his figurative, graphic style characterized by spiky, angular forms. A staunch defender of representational art, he was a member of the anti-abstraction group L'homme Témoin. He produced over 8,000 works during his career and was inducted into the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1974.
