Sir Henry Raeburn was a prominent Scottish portrait painter who served as Portrait Painter to King George IV in Scotland. Originally apprenticed to a goldsmith, he developed his artistic skills and later studied in London and Italy before returning to Edinburgh, where he became highly sought after for his portraits of the elite.
