Hamed Abdalla was a self-taught Egyptian artist born in Cairo in 1917. He was trained in calligraphy as a child and later attended the School of Applied Arts in Giza before dropping out to pursue his own artistic path. He founded his own art school in 1942 and was a significant figure in modern Egyptian art until his death in 1985.
