Ardengo Soffici was an Italian painter, critic, and writer born in Rignano sull'Arno. He spent formative years in Paris, where he engaged with avant-garde figures like Picasso and Braque. He was instrumental in introducing Cubism to Italy and later became associated with the Futurist movement. Following the First World War, his artistic and critical outlook shifted toward more conservative styles.
