DESCRIPTION

Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo was an Italian Divisionist painter born and raised in Volpedo. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti and later adopted a Divisionist technique, using small dots of color to achieve brilliance. He is best known for his monumental work 'The Fourth Estate' (Il quarto stato), which depicts a group of working-class figures. He died by suicide in 1907.
