Sculpture and architecture
Antônio Francisco Lisboa, known as Aleijadinho, was a prominent sculptor and architect of the Brazilian colonial period. Despite suffering from a degenerative disease that affected his physical mobility, he created significant Baroque and Rococo works, most notably the sculptural ensemble at the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus de Matosinhos in Congonhas.
