Sopheap Pich is a contemporary artist known for his intricate sculptures made from traditional Cambodian materials like bamboo, rattan, and metal wire. Born in Battambang, Cambodia, he survived the Khmer Rouge regime before immigrating to the United States in 1984. He earned an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and returned to Cambodia in 2002, where his work began to reflect on the country's history, trauma, and development.
