Sculpture and installation art
Nancy Rubins is an American sculptor and installation artist known for creating large-scale, monumental assemblages using industrial and everyday objects such as appliances, airplane parts, boats, and mattresses. Born in Naples, Texas, she earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1974 and her MFA from the University of California, Davis in 1976. Her work often explores the intersection of engineering and art, frequently defying gravity through complex, rhizomatic structures.
