Antonio da Correggio was a pioneering Italian painter of the High Renaissance. He is celebrated for his dynamic compositions, illusionistic perspective, and dramatic foreshortening. His sensuous mythological paintings and grand frescoes foreshadowed the later Baroque and Rococo movements.
