DESCRIPTION

Born in Valrico, Florida, Alex Hay moved to New York in 1959 after studying at Florida State University. He was a prominent figure in the 1960s New York art scene, known for his close collaboration with Robert Rauschenberg and his involvement in the 9 Evenings: Theatre & Engineering project. Following a successful career survey in 1971, he largely withdrew from the art world for several decades.
