Kenneth Noland was a prominent American Color Field painter and a key figure in the Washington Color School. Known for his use of vivid color and simple geometric forms such as concentric circles, chevrons, and stripes, he often employed a technique of staining unprimed canvas. He studied at Black Mountain College and was highly influential in the development of 20th-century American abstraction.
