Piero Gilardi (1942–2023) was an influential Italian visual artist, theorist, and organizer, best known as a pioneer of the Arte Povera movement. He gained international recognition for his 'Nature-Carpets' (Tappeti-Natura), which brought representations of the wilderness into gallery spaces. Throughout his career, he was a catalytic figure who connected neo-avant-garde artists across Europe and North America and was deeply involved in political and ecological activism.
