Adam McEwen is a contemporary British artist based in New York. He studied English literature at Oxford University and later attended the California Institute of the Arts. He is well known for his conceptual work, including a series of obituaries written for living celebrities, which drew on his previous professional experience as an obituary writer for The Daily Telegraph. His practice often involves the transformation of everyday objects and the use of unconventional materials like graphite and chewed gum to challenge perceptions of mass media and daily life.
