Mohamed Hamidi was a prominent Moroccan painter and a founding figure of Moroccan Modernism. Born in Casablanca, he studied at the School of Fine Arts of Casablanca and later in Paris, where he trained under Jean Aujame. He was a key participant in the 1969 Jemaa El-Fnaa exhibition, a seminal event in Moroccan art history. His work evolved from figurative to abstract, characterized by geometric patterns, vibrant colors, and the exploration of the human form.
