Ana Maria Tavares is a Brazilian contemporary artist born in 1958. She earned her BFA from FAAP in São Paulo, an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a PhD from the University of São Paulo. She was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship and creates installations and sculptures engaging with modernist architecture and urban non-places.
