Anna Maria Maiolino is an Italian-born Brazilian conceptual artist who immigrated with her family to South America, settling in Rio de Janeiro where she studied at the Escola Nacional de Belas Artes. Her multidisciplinary practice addresses body, language, politics, and gender, spanning drawing, performance, film, and clay sculpture. She was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2024 Venice Biennale.
