Chang Chao-Tang (1943–2024) was a pioneering Taiwanese photographer and documentary filmmaker. Emerging in the 1960s, he broke away from traditional salon and propaganda photography with a modernist, surrealist, and absurdist visual style, and later directed acclaimed documentary films such as The Boat-Burning Festival.
