Bassim Al Shaker is an Iraqi-born, New York-based artist and filmmaker who received his BFA from the University of Baghdad and MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His paintings and films often reflect experiences of war, conflict, and memory in post-invasion Iraq, and his work has been exhibited at Documenta Fifteen and the Iraqi Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
