Maria Wæhrens is a Danish painter based in Copenhagen. She graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1999–2005) under Ursula Reuter Christiansen. Known for her expressive, intuitive, and raw painting style combining automatic drawings and gestural abstraction, her work explores themes ranging from queer identity and the human body to contemporary spiritual and religious experience.
