Still Life Painting
Clara Peeters was a Flemish still-life painter active in Antwerp and a pioneer of the 'breakfast piece' genre. She was one of the few women in 17th-century Europe to specialize in still lifes and is celebrated for her meticulous rendering of textures and her innovative inclusion of tiny self-portraits within the reflections of her painted objects.
