Born in Xalapa, Mexico, Marco Abarca studied art and sculpture at the University of Veracruz. He eventually settled in Oaxaca, drawn by its light and culture. His work is characterized by whimsical wooden sculptures and mixed media boxes that frequently incorporate themes from his childhood, such as nature and the circus.
