Nick Cave is a Chicago-based artist and educator known for his 'Soundsuits'—vibrant, wearable sculptures that blend fashion, performance, and social commentary. Originally conceived as a metaphorical suit of armor in response to the Rodney King beating in 1991, the Soundsuits utilize found materials like beads, sequins, and twigs to obscure the wearer's race, gender, and class. His practice also includes large-scale installations and community-based performances that address issues of social justice and racial identity.
