Ilona Keserü is a leading figure of the Hungarian neo-avant-garde and the 'Iparterv' generation of artists. Her practice is defined by a deep exploration of color theory and organic forms, most notably the heart-shaped gravestones of the Balatonudvari cemetery which became a recurring motif in her work. She was a professor at the University of Pécs for many years and is a recipient of Hungary's prestigious Kossuth Prize.
