Malcolm Morley was a pioneering artist associated with the development of Superrealism and Photorealism in the 1960s. Born in London, he moved to New York in 1958 where he created works using a grid system to meticulously transfer photographic images onto canvas. In 1984, he was named the inaugural winner of the Turner Prize. Throughout his career, his style shifted from precise realism to more expressive and gestural modes often categorized as Neo-expressionism.
