Heather Beardsley is a visual artist from Virginia Beach who works at the intersection of art, science, and the environment. She received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and completed a Fulbright Scholarship in Vienna. Her prominent 'Strange Plants' series utilizes hand embroidery on found photographs to depict nature reclaiming man-made urban spaces, a concept inspired by her visit to the Chernobyl exclusion zone.
