Mel Bochner (1940–2025) was a central figure in the development of Conceptual Art. He is renowned for incorporating language, mathematical systems, and measurement into visual art, most notably through his 1966 exhibition 'Working Drawings' and his vibrant 'Thesaurus' paintings that explore the relationship between words and color.
