Born in 1964 in Barcelona, Spain, Raul De La Torre is a Los Angeles-based artist trained at the Massana Art School. He is best known for his 'Fils i Colors' (Threads and Colors) series, where he integrates delicate embroidery and threadwork into acrylic paintings on canvas or paper. His practice explores the 'third dimension' of the surface, using needlework to repair cuts or add rhythmic patterns that represent personal memories and human DNA. He is an active member of the LACMA Arts Council.
