Dirk De Bruycker (1955–2015) was a Belgian-born painter who lived and worked primarily in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Granada, Nicaragua. He was renowned for monumental abstract works that utilized unconventional materials like asphaltum and gesso alongside traditional oils. His tactile and deeply textured paintings were influenced by both Northern European sensibilities and the intense, sensual environment of Latin America. He was a recipient of a Visual Artist Fellowship Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
