Abstract Painting
Born in 1938 in Shanghai, China, Julia Nee Chu moved to the United States in 1961. She is an internationally acclaimed abstract painter who earned her BA and MFA from UCLA. Her work blends traditional Chinese calligraphic sensibilities and spontaneity with Western abstract expressionism. Her paintings often focus on the processes and movements of nature, serving as a dialogue between the conscious and unconscious mind. Her work is included in the collection of the Hong Kong Museum of Art.
