Painting, Performance
Kazuo Shiraga was a Japanese artist and a central member of the Gutai Art Association. He is internationally recognized for his innovative "foot paintings," created by suspending himself from a rope and manipulating oil paint with his feet. His work emphasized the physical act of creation and the "embodiment" of materials, bridging performance and abstract painting.
