Sculpture
Liu Shiming was a prominent Chinese sculptor and a member of the first generation of artists trained at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. His work is known for its focus on everyday life and Chinese folk traditions, often utilizing clay and bronze to create humanist portraits and scenes. He spent many years working in the rural provinces of Henan and Hebei, which deeply influenced his artistic philosophy and rejection of Western modernism in favor of a distinct 'Chinese Method' of sculpture.
