Hayoon Jay Lee was born in Daegu, South Korea, and is currently based in New York City. She is known for her interdisciplinary work that prominently features rice as a motif and cultural symbol, exploring themes of indulgence, abnegation, and the tension between Eastern and Western cultures. Lee received her BFA and MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
