DESCRIPTION
Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian (1922–2019) was a pioneering Iranian artist recognized for her work combining traditional Iranian mirror mosaic techniques with Western geometric abstraction. After studying in New York at Cornell University and the Parsons School of Design, she spent decades in exile following the Iranian Revolution before returning to Tehran in 2004. In 2017, the Monir Museum opened in Tehran, becoming the first museum in Iran dedicated to a single female artist.
