Jeffrey Meris (often spelled Merris) was born in Haiti and raised in the Bahamas before moving to New York. His multidisciplinary work examines the relationship between materiality and social phenomena, focusing on themes of displacement, racialization, and the concept of home. He holds an MFA from Columbia University and has been an artist-in-residence at the Studio Museum in Harlem.
