Born in 1980 in New York, Miguel Ángel Payano Jr. lives and works between the Bronx and Beijing. He holds a BA from Williams College and MFAs from both the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and Hunter College. His work investigates identity and socialization through a tri-cultural lens of American, Caribbean, and Chinese influences, often featuring surrealist 'peach-mouth' motifs that merge painting and sculpture.
