Mariko Mori is a Japanese multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges ancient Eastern spirituality with futuristic technology. She rose to international prominence in the 1990s with surreal self-portraiture and videos where she appeared as cyborg or deity-like characters. In 2010, she founded the Faou Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to creating six site-specific art installations across six continents as homages to nature.
