Born in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, Hernández co-founded the Ordo Amoris Cabinet in 1994, which focused on creative solutions to material shortages in Cuba. His work, ranging from drawing to large-scale installations, often examines themes of memory, the ideological landscape of post-revolutionary Cuba, and Caribbean culture.
