Bassim Al-Shaker is an Iraqi painter who earned his BFA from the University of Baghdad and his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work, which has been featured in the Venice Biennale and Documenta, often uses oil painting to explore themes of survival, destruction, and the aftermath of conflict, drawing on his personal experiences in Baghdad.
