Miya Ando is an American visual artist of Japanese and Russian heritage. A sixteenth-generation descendant of Bizen swordsmiths, she was raised between a Buddhist temple in Japan and the redwood forest of Northern California. Her practice involves transforming industrial materials like burnished metal and glass into ethereal works that explore natural phenomena, impermanence, and the passage of time.
