Peter Brötzmann was a pioneering German free jazz saxophonist and visual artist. Widely regarded as one of the most important and powerful figures in European free improvisation, he was also a trained graphic artist. He designed many of his own album covers and maintained a lifelong practice of painting and creating wood and metal constructions, often exhibiting his visual work in galleries alongside his musical performances.
