Melanie P. Brown is a Chicago-based painter and educator whose work is often created in direct response to sound and music. She frequently collaborates with musicians for live painting performances, treating the act of painting as a time-based, multisensory event. She holds an MFA in Painting from American University and a BA from Knox College, and she has taught for nearly two decades at the Lillstreet Art Center.
