Alvin Armstrong

DESCRIPTION

Alvin Armstrong is a self-taught painter based in Brooklyn whose work focuses on honoring the beauty and resilience of the Black American community. His figurative paintings often utilize kinetic brushwork and archival references to explore the social and political complexities of race and identity. Before dedicating himself to art full-time, Armstrong practiced acupuncture, a background that informs his interest in the human condition and the body's presence in his compositions.
