Conceptual Art
Adam Pendleton is a conceptual artist known for a multi-disciplinary practice that encompasses painting, silkscreen, collage, film, and performance. Central to his work is the concept of 'Black Dada,' a critical framework he developed to investigate the relationship between Blackness, abstraction, and the avant-garde. His work often involves the recontextualization of history and language, and has been the subject of major solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
