Jef Geys was a Belgian conceptual artist who spent most of his life in Balen, where he taught at a vocational school. His practice was deeply rooted in the everyday, utilizing archives, photography, and local interventions to critique cultural hierarchies. He represented Belgium at the 53rd Venice Biennale in 2009.
