Thomas Schütte is a German contemporary artist who studied under Gerhard Richter at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. His diverse practice includes figurative sculpture, large-scale public monuments, and architectural models, often investigating the human condition and social hierarchies. He received the Golden Lion for Best Artist at the 2005 Venice Biennale. His work has been featured in major retrospectives at institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Serpentine Galleries.
