Ernst Gamperl is a German woodturner known for creating large-scale, organic vessels from massive logs of fallen timber, particularly oak, beech, and maple. He won the inaugural Loewe Foundation Craft Prize in 2017 for his work 'Tree of Life 2,' which demonstrates his technique of working with 'green' wood and allowing the natural drying process to shape the final form.
