Conceptual Art
Claude Rutault (1941–2022) was a French conceptual artist known for his radical 'de-finitions/methods,' first introduced in 1973. His practice moved beyond the physical hand of the artist, instead providing written protocols for 'charge-takers' (collectors or museums) to actualize his works. His most iconic method required a canvas to be painted the exact same color as the wall it occupies, ensuring the painting remains inseparable from its context.
