Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese contemporary artist who rose to prominence in the 1960s New York avant-garde scene. She is celebrated for her obsessive use of polka dots and her immersive Infinity Mirror Rooms. Since 1977, she has lived voluntarily in a psychiatric hospital in Tokyo, where she continues to produce prolific works across various media.
