Sir Howard Hodgkin was a celebrated British painter and printmaker, widely regarded as one of the most important artists of his generation. His work is characterized by bold colors and a unique blend of abstraction and figuration, often painted on wooden supports and frames. He won the Turner Prize in 1985 and was knighted in 1992.
