Painting
Born in Budapest, Rita Ackermann moved to New York in the early 1990s and gained early recognition for her drawings of rebellious, nymph-like female figures. Her practice has since evolved into complex, large-scale paintings that oscillate between figuration and abstraction, frequently utilizing techniques of layering and erasure to create a sense of movement and narrative ambiguity.
